The Transformation Intensive was a deeply life changing experience for me. I heard about the Awakened Life Project through a friend who is linked to GEN (Global Ecovillage Network). I was looking for a community where I could be in nature, deepen my meditation practice, learn more about spirituality and do yoga. I was looking for a community which connected inner change with outer change.
I loved that they have women’s and men’s groups, a permaculture garden and healthy food. When I came here, I realized that this community wanted to be an example of how to live differently together, in nature and in the world. People here are very interested in what is going on in the world, also on a political level and are active in different transition groups in the region. I am very interested in politics and socio-economic questions myself. So I was happy to see that they are able to link spiritual practice to the way they live. They seemed to walk their talk and as I stayed longer, I saw that they really do this.
The way they teach meditation is very simple: let everything be as it is. The simplicity of everything here, the teaching, the food, the accommodation, had a very healing effect on me. More and more I relaxed and I recovered from a very stressful time of my life. During the course, I started to discover who I really am and what I wanted to do in my life.
We had talks and sharings in the morning investigating how to live our deepest understandings and distinguishing between our authentic self and the self-contraction of the ego or false self. In the afternoon we worked for 3 hours, we did tasks like cooking or working in the garden. We meditated every morning and evening for one hour.
We also had one silent day per week, the only time we would speak was at the end of the day when we would meditate for a while in a circle and then engage in a session of Awakened Communication. Following simple guidelines of deep listening, being in the moment and being more interested in the unknown than what we already know, we expressed ourselves from our spiritual heart or true being (whatever you want to call it), and not through our mind. Through this transparency we evoked a beautiful, vibrant shared field of consciousness in which we expressed and explored the miracle of Awakened LIFE.
I have experienced a deep inner change from feeling quite constantly heavy and fascinated by darkness to feeling and being light! I also made some outer changes including quitting my training to become a therapist, which I realized was not what I really want to do. And, I decided to stay longer here in this Project. I am very grateful for what I have experienced here so far. I feel very empowered!
